Sweet Forest Berries, Slate, Supple Tannins And Fresh Acidity
The nose has perfumed sweet berry fruit with Mountain forest and herbs, deep notes of salt and beef blood. On the palate, sweet berries are backed with clean slate. The palate has buoyant fruit with supple tannins and fresh acidity.Founded in 2006, Sedella is a newer project from young winemaker Lauren Rosillo. after discovering 100+ year old Garnacha vineyards in the mountains above Malaga. Lauren fell in love with these vineyards and the location, warmed by the Mediterranean and cooled by the higher elevation. His greatest winemaking influence has been not in the winery, but in the vineyard, returning to more organic and sustainable farming practices, employing animals for tilling and steering away from pesticides. For this bottling, he has also decided to utilize ancestral wine storing vessels to influence the wine. French oak is used in fermentation and then concrete amphora vessels are used to age the wine for one year, allowing gentle and subtle micro-oxygenation to integrate the wine. The final product is a wine that smells of the fresh Mediterranean forest that surrounds the vineyards, with great concentration showing the potential of the local varietals and old vine Garnacha. And while the rich fruit palate speaks of its rustic surroundings, the wine is fresh and retains great balance.
