QUICK TALK
NOTES

The nose is funky, dusty cherry and wild strawberry, slightly gamey. The palate couldn’t be more delicate and fun, still full of tart wild fruit, some minerals and soil/earth. Very light palate, with great acid.

Former cofounder and technician of the legendary Anima Negra, Francesc Grimalt branched out to make his own winery with friend Sergio Caballero (in a converted sheep farm). Their goal is to continue to showcase local, native varietals and to work as ecologically as possible. Ecologically, meaning in harmony with nature –somewhere in between organic and biodynamic farming. It is not uncommon to find lots of healthy vegetation in the vineyards – cherry trees and even wild garlic thrive smack in the middle of the vineyards for Motor America. The vineyards and the wines also benefit greatly from the iron rich red clay soils of Mallorca.

4 Kilos’ wines are sophisticated but with a rustic soul that expresses the land and the people of Mallorca. These guys also like to have fun and experiment. Motor America represents a departure from the fuller, structured wines they create. It’s light, fun, and very much a prism of the vineyard.
