QUICK TALK
NOTES

The 1996 vintage, while very good, followed two fantastic vintages and was thus overshadowed. The winestill holds true to the style, excellent structured grapes with firm tannin and high acidity coming from Alavesa, rounded out with beautiful fruit from Alta. The wine bursts on the nose, with spice, graphite, leather, dark cherry, tobacco. The palate displays elegant oak, with spice and herbs mingling together. Complex and savory. The wine is still surprisingly fresh and drinks like a wine 10 years younger. Give it time to open and truly enjoy its development in the glass.Until recently, Marqués de Tomares was unheard of outside of Spain. Only in the country could you discover these remarkable wines, made for over 100 years in Rioja. Incredible balance and depth of fruit are the hallmarks of the Bodega’s wines, in addition to long standing partnerships with exceptional growers in the region. These are a remarkable discovery just now enjoying a moment in the spotlight, but still offered at incredible value.Vine age is over 100 years old, from a variety of small plots.
