Ruben Parera is pretty much a poster boy for the new wave of young winemakers in Catalunya committed to doing things differently. And really,he just wants to get back to farming, as naturally as possible. His family’s vineyards lie in Upper (Alt) Penedès, rich in calcareous clay and with biodynamic farming practices, he doesn’t want anything to get in the way of showing off the fruit and that land. Winemaking, thus, has to also be free of any additives.

This wine in particular is his way of saying he is “fed up” with old ways that make for less than exciting wines. This wine is 33% red grapes (Sumoll, an ancient and rustic local varietal) and the remainder is two white grapes (Garnatxa Blanca and Xarel-lo). That’s a pretty good way to break with some old traditions! We love, love, love this project for its playful, irreverent nature and its slightly wild yet satisfying flavors.

Is it a rosé? Is it a red? We’re not totally sure and we don’t care. It’s the wine we want in our glass! We serve it chilled, because summer is begging for something refreshing. The name (in Catalan):Fins Als Kullons = Fed Up! Had it up to here!
