QUICK TALK
NOTES

The philosophy of Costers del Priorat is to make wines with marked freshness and elegance, a departure from the often huge wines of Priorat. Winemaker Jose Mas Barberà believes in showcasing the specific towns and plots within this famed D.O. Pissares comes from the word 'Pizarra', meaning Slate, which refers to the Llicorella soils (decomposing Slate and Schist) that make this mountainous region so special. The grapes are left on the skins for ten days before fermentation for extra richness and structure, and then aged in very large old oak barrels to allow the wine to breath and harmonize. The Pissares Blanc is rich and opulent with ripe pear and white peach, hints of flowers and herbs, but also extremely balanced with a clear note of minerality keeping this wine bright.
